Pattern Instructions

1. Base of the Bag

  • Chain (ch) 36 (adjust in multiples of 6 for size).
  • Row 1: Starting in the second chain from hook, work 1 single crochet (sc) in each ch across (36 sc).
  • Rows 2-12: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st across (12 rows total, ~2.75”/7cm tall).

2. Body (V-Stitch Pattern)

  • Row 13 (First V-Stitch Row):
    • Skip 2 rows, then in the next row, work:
      • 2 double crochets (dc) + ch 1 + 2 dc in the same stitch (this forms a V-stitch).
      • Skip 2 rows, 1 dc in next row, then repeat the V-stitch.
    • Continue alternating V-stitch and dc around.
  • Repeat Rows 14-28:
    • Work V-stitches in each V from the previous row, and dc in the dc spaces until the bag reaches 7.5” (19cm) tall (16 rows total).

3. Finishing the Top Edge

  • Fasten off and weave in ends with a tapestry needle.

4. Straps

  • Make 2 straps:
    • Ch 70 (~27.5”/70cm), fasten off.
    • Attach to the sides of the bag by sewing through the V-stitch posts.

5. Adding Wooden Beads & Magnetic Closure

  • Thread the straps through wooden beads for a stylish touch.
  • Sew a magnetic snap at the top opening for easy closure.
