This policy explains what information Daily Crochet collects when you visit www.dailycrochet.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using this site you accept the practices described here.
Last updated: 10 September 2026.
1. Who we are
Daily Crochet is a crochet website published at www.dailycrochet.com. For any privacy question, or to make a request about your personal data, use our contact page.
2. What information we collect
Information you give us. If you send a message through our contact page, leave a comment, subscribe to our newsletter, download a free pattern, or send us a photo of something you have made, we receive what you send – typically your name, your email address, your message and any image you attach. You choose whether to give us this.
Information collected automatically. Like almost every website, our server and the services we use record technical information when a page is requested: your IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type, screen size, the page you asked for, the page that referred you, and the date and time. This is used to serve the site, keep it secure, understand which patterns are popular, and display advertising.
Cookies and similar technologies. See section 3.
We do not ask for or store payment card details on this site.
3. Cookies
A cookie is a small file stored on your device by your browser. Similar technologies include local storage, pixels and tags. This site uses them for:
- Essential functions – keeping the site working, remembering your consent choice, remembering your details if you leave a comment, and security.
- Analytics – understanding, in aggregate, which patterns are read and how people find them.
- Advertising – allowing our advertising partners to select ads, limit how often you see the same ad, and measure performance. See section 4.
You can control cookies in your browser settings, including blocking them or deleting existing ones. Blocking all cookies may stop parts of the site working. Where a consent banner is shown to you, you can change your choice at any time using the privacy or consent link presented on the site.
4. Advertising
This site is free to read and is paid for by display advertising.
Ezoic. Advertising and site optimisation on Daily Crochet are provided by Ezoic Inc. Ezoic and its advertising partners may place cookies and use similar technologies on your device to select and deliver ads, measure how ads perform, cap the number of times you see a given ad, detect fraud, and test different versions of pages. Ezoic may also process technical data such as your IP address, device and browser information, and the pages you view on this site, for those purposes. The Ezoic privacy policy is available at ezoic.com/privacy-policy.
Google. Google, including Google AdSense, is one of the advertising partners serving ads on this site as a third-party vendor. Google uses cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising by Google at google.com/settings/ads, and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Other advertising partners. Third-party vendors and ad networks other than Google may also serve ads on this site and may use cookies to do so. We do not control these third-party cookies, and this policy does not cover the practices of those companies. You can opt out of personalised advertising from many participating networks at optout.aboutads.info, optout.networkadvertising.org, or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
The current list of advertising partners and the purposes they process data for appears below:
5. Affiliate links
Some links to yarn, hooks and craft supplies are affiliate links. If you buy through one we may earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Following an affiliate link takes you to the retailer’s own site, where their privacy policy applies and where they may set their own cookies to record that you arrived from us.
6. Analytics
We use analytics services to understand in aggregate how the site is used – which patterns are read, how long people stay, and which sources send visitors. This reporting is aggregated and is not used to identify individual readers.
7. Newsletter and free pattern downloads
If you subscribe to our newsletter or sign up to receive a free pattern, we use your email address to send you what you asked for and our regular crochet emails. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately. We do not sell or rent our email list.
8. Comments and photographs you send us
If you leave a comment, your name, your comment, and the email address you enter are stored so the comment can be displayed and moderated. Your email address is not published. Comment spam filtering is applied to every comment before it appears.
If you send us a photograph of something you have made, we may show it on the site or on our social channels with credit to you. Ask us and we will take it down.
9. How we use the information
We use the information described above to publish and operate the site, respond to messages, send email you have asked for, measure and improve our patterns and articles, display advertising that pays for the site, keep the site secure and prevent spam and abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are: consent (for advertising and non-essential cookies, and for marketing email), legitimate interests (operating, securing and improving the site), and legal obligation where the law requires it.
10. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information.
Information is shared with the service providers who make the site work, and only for that purpose: our web host, our advertising partner Ezoic and the advertising networks it works with, our analytics provider, our email provider, and security and anti-spam services.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to do so, or where it is necessary to protect our rights, safety or property, and, if the site is ever sold or transferred, to the new owner as part of that transfer.
Some of these providers are based outside your country, including in the United States, so your information may be transferred and processed there.
11. How long we keep it
Comments and the messages you send us are kept while they remain useful for the purpose you sent them. Newsletter subscribers are kept until they unsubscribe. Server and security logs are kept for a short period and then rotated. Advertising and analytics data is retained by those providers according to their own policies.
12. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we take reasonable technical measures to protect the information we hold. No website can promise perfect security, and we cannot guarantee it.
13. Your rights in Europe and the UK (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have the right to ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to have your data deleted, to restrict or object to our processing of it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time – including your advertising and cookie consent, which you can change using the consent link on the site.
To exercise any of these rights, use our contact page. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
14. Your rights in California (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what categories of personal information we collect and the purposes we use it for, to request a copy of it, to request its deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights.
We do not sell personal information for money. Some sharing of information with advertising partners for personalised advertising may be treated as a sale or as sharing under California law; you can opt out of personalised advertising using the consent controls on this site and the industry opt-out links in section 4. To make a request, use our contact page.
15. Children
Crochet is for everyone, but this website is written for adults and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
16. Other websites
Our roundups link out to other crochet designers’ websites, and advertisements link to advertisers’ websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of those sites. When you follow a link away from Daily Crochet, that site has its own privacy policy and it applies.
17. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when our practices or our providers change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
18. Contact us
For any question about this policy, or to make a request about your personal data, use our contact page.
