Once in a while, I come across a spectacular design that makes me wonder: Is this a painting or crochet afghan? This Tides of Change pattern by Frank O'Randle, available in 87in/221cm sizes is amazing, beautiful, and mesmerizing.

I feel like this crochet pattern, so beautifully called Tides of Change is more than just the design for an afghan, it's an invitation to meditation. Change is something that happens in everyone’s life whether we want it or not so let's welcome this beautiful crochet piece into our crochet world. Close your eyes and think of changes in your life: what colors do you see with your mind’s eyes?

This gorgeous pattern would make such a beautiful afghan and also, in my opinion, would make such a beautiful rag! Great and unique home decor piece! Love meditating? Nothing better than a Tides of Change crochet inspiration in your most quiet and peaceful place.

Hook Sizes:
This pattern was designed using RHSS yarn and a K hook. The hook size that is recommended on a yarn ball band is going to be too small for this design. You must use a large hook for your yarn weight or your project will not lay flat and it will have very severe puckering.

Trying to use the smallest hook size possible is the wrong way to go with this design. It will not lay flat.

Stitches & Abbreviations used: sp, ch, sl st, sc, hdc, ehdc, dc, edc, tr, etr, dtr, edtr, sc inc, hdc inc, dc inc, tr inc, sc2tog, sc3tog, dc2tog, dc3tog, dc4tog, tr2tog, tr3tog, tr4tog, tr5tog, beg-cl, cl, cl-v, fpdc, fptr

Hook size: K/6.5mm

Yarn weight: Worsted/Medium/Aran/4

Yarn used: Red Heart Super Saver

Total yardage: 4,004 yards/3,661 meters

This is written for a 5 color gradient from darkest color to lightest color.

Colors:
1 – Royal 2 skeins = 728 yards/665 meters
2 – Blue 2 skeins = 728 yards/665 meters
3 – Delft Blue 2 skeins = 728 yards/665 meters
4 – Light Blue 2 skeins = 728 yards/665 meters
5 – White 3 skeins = 1,092 yards/998 meters

  1. Ana Maria Valim

Gostaria de ter o passo a passo deste maravilhoso tapete, por favor.
    Ele é muito lindo.

  2. I am stuck on row 43! I don’t know if it is me or I just can’t wrap my head around this row. Is there a video for this pattern?
