Crochet Baby Blanket Tutorials: The 20 Most-Watched Free Videos of the Year

Three crochet baby blanket stitches from this year's most-watched video tutorials

Some crochet videos get a few hundred views. Then there are the ones that go around the world. I went looking for the baby blanket tutorials that crocheters watched the most this year, and the numbers surprised even me. The 20 videos below were watched almost 20 million times between them.

Every one is a free video tutorial on YouTube. Every one was posted in the last 12 months. And they are ranked by real views, from the biggest down. Some are a whole blanket from start to finish. Most teach you one beautiful stitch that you repeat until your blanket is as big as you want it.

Before you start, one honest tip. Many of these channels use dreamy, perfect pictures on their video covers. The real thing is in the video, and it is just as pretty. That is why the pictures on this page are taken from the videos themselves, so you see the stitch you will really make.

How we picked them: we searched YouTube for crochet baby blanket and blanket stitch tutorials posted from October 2025 to October 2026, and sorted them by views. View counts were checked on October 15, 2026, and they keep going up. Short clips and non-blanket projects were left out.

Tips for Your First Baby Blanket

  • Pick the size first. A stroller blanket is about 30 x 35 inches. A crib blanket is about 36 x 45 inches. Our blanket sizing calculator does the math for you.
  • Make a small swatch. Most of these videos only show a small piece. Make a piece about 4 inches wide, measure it, and you will know how many chains you need for the full width.
  • Check the video description. Many makers list the yarn, hook and starting chain there, and some link to a written pattern on their own website.
  • Choose soft, washable yarn. Babies drool, spit up and drag blankets everywhere. Machine-washable baby yarn makes life easier for the parents.
  • Skip loose holes for newborns. Open lace is lovely for a photo or a stroller, but a solid stitch like number 7 or number 16 is cozier for everyday use.
  • Finish with a border. A simple edge makes any blanket look finished. Borrow one from our free crochet edgings and borders.

What You’ll Need

For most of these blankets, a soft machine-washable baby yarn and a set of ergonomic crochet hooks are all you need. For numbers 1 and 13, grab a Tunisian crochet hook. Keep some locking stitch markers and a blunt tapestry needle close by too.

Which one are you making first? If you only make one, I would start with number 11, the Moon Lullaby. It is a whole blanket, start to finish, in a size that fits right in a stroller. And if you fall in love with texture, our easy 3D baby blanket and 10 one row repeat blankets for beginners are waiting for you next. Happy hooking!
