Pink, blue, purple, white and orange daisies, every one with a sunny yellow middle. Put a pile of them together and you get a blanket that looks like a summer meadow. Over 1.2 million people watched this tutorial from the Crochet My Hobby channel since it went up in April.
It is one of those projects that makes you smile while you make it. Each flower is small and quick, so you can finish one in a short break and feel like you got something done.

What Makes This Blanket So Special?
This is a motif blanket. Instead of working long rows, you make lots of little flowers and connect them. The video shows how the flowers join to each other as you go, so you don’t end up with a giant pile of pieces to sew together at the end.
It is also the best scrap-buster on our list. Every little ball of leftover yarn can become a flower. Mix all your colors, or pick just two or three for a calmer nursery look.
The maker works with a small hook and fine yarn, so her daisies come out delicate, almost like lace. That is lovely for a table cover. For a baby blanket you can use a softer, thicker yarn and a bigger hook, and the flowers simply grow bigger.
What You’ll Need
- Soft yarn in a few flower colors plus yellow for the centers. A multipack of soft baby yarn gives you lots of colors at once.
- A crochet hook that matches your yarn. An ergonomic hook set covers every size.
- A tapestry needle for all those little ends, and scissors.

Tips Before You Start
- Make a test flower first. Make one daisy in your yarn and measure it. Then you can work out how many you need for a stroller or crib blanket. Our baby blanket sizes guide has the common sizes.
- Weave in ends as you go. A daisy blanket has a lot of little ends. Do them after every few flowers, not all at the end.
- Plan your colors on the floor. Lay out finished flowers before you join them, so the same color doesn’t end up side by side.
- Choose cotton for summer, soft acrylic for winter. Both wash well, and both are gentle on baby skin.
