That being said, I got inspired today reading an article on Moogly and here are 5 adorable and free crochet patterns your dog will barely let you finish before grabbing it, weaving in the tail!

1. Tiny Whale by June Gilbank

This little whale is the perfect size to sit in the palm of your hand! But even better than that: he’s crocheted all in one piece, so there’s no sewing involved to make him!

Yarn: worsted weight yarn

Hook: E US/3.5mm crochet hook

Size: approx 3.5” long. (Your gauge and yarn choice will affect the finished size slightly.)

Eyes: 8mm

2. Ideal Crochet Sphere by Emily Premise-Conclusion

This pattern is for mathematically ideal crochet spheres of different sizes! There are 10 different sizes in this pattern. Turns out the number of stitches in each row scales with sin(theta), where theta is the polar angle of the sphere.

I haven’t made all of these spheres myself (that would just be too much spherey-ness for me!) but the pattern for each sphere is based on calculations that I’ve made. Please let me know if you try one out and the pattern doesn’t work out the greatest!

5. Farmyard Finger Puppets by Yvonne Boucher

I did this pattern at the request of a mother who wanted it as a teaching tool for her autistic son. Each puppet has a tail which does not show in the picture. The puppets are easy to make and use basic crochet stitches. A fun way to use little scraps of yarn.
