I am a dog owner type of person. Leia came into my life about 4 years ago, totally unexpectedly as I wasn’t planning on having a dog any time soon, since I was most of the time travelling for my work, and almost never at home. However, as I came to realize later, making her a part of my life, turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life.
She opened the door for me to a totally different world, as today I have a totally different understanding of dogs and cats and as a matter of fact of any other pet out there. She’s the master of fun and unconditional love, and only thinking about her makes me smile.
She’s a part of my family and as I’ve learnt in the last few years, for the most dog owners dogs are family too! Our four legs buddies get toys and gifts and get to be spoiled. Makes them happy and makes us even happier!
That being said, I got inspired today reading an article on Moogly and here are 5 adorable and free crochet patterns your dog will barely let you finish before grabbing it, weaving in the tail!
1. Tiny Whale by June Gilbank
This little whale is the perfect size to sit in the palm of your hand! But even better than that: he’s crocheted all in one piece, so there’s no sewing involved to make him!
Yarn: worsted weight yarn
Hook: E US/3.5mm crochet hook
Size: approx 3.5” long. (Your gauge and yarn choice will affect the finished size slightly.)
Eyes: 8mm

2. Ideal Crochet Sphere by Emily Premise-Conclusion
This pattern is for mathematically ideal crochet spheres of different sizes! There are 10 different sizes in this pattern. Turns out the number of stitches in each row scales with sin(theta), where theta is the polar angle of the sphere.
I haven’t made all of these spheres myself (that would just be too much spherey-ness for me!) but the pattern for each sphere is based on calculations that I’ve made. Please let me know if you try one out and the pattern doesn’t work out the greatest!

3. Dog Bone Toy by Jessica Suzanne
Romeo is a teeny timy dog, so he couldn’t chew through this thing. However, I would supervise larger dogs to ensure they can’t get to the polyfil inside.

4. Cozy Pet Bed by Johanna Dzikowski
Pamper your loyal and loving furry friends with this cozy pet bed. They will feel like royalty with their own special place to curl up and take a cat nap.

5. Farmyard Finger Puppets by Yvonne Boucher
I did this pattern at the request of a mother who wanted it as a teaching tool for her autistic son. Each puppet has a tail which does not show in the picture. The puppets are easy to make and use basic crochet stitches. A fun way to use little scraps of yarn.
