Let’s be real—sometimes crochet tutorials go way too fast, and other times you just want to yell, “Get to the point already!” at your screen. Luckily, YouTube lets you speed up or slow down videos super easily. Here’s how to do it without any tech headaches.
On Desktop (Web Browser)
- Open the YouTube video you want to adjust.
- Click the Settings (Gear) icon⚙️ in the bottom-right corner (where all the secret settings hide).
- Select “Playback speed” from the menu.
- Choose a speed:
- Slower: 0.25x, 0.5x, or 0.75x
- Normal: 1x (default)
- Faster: 1.25x, 1.5x, 1.75x, or 2x
Bonus trick: If you’re a keyboard ninja, press Shift + > (period) to speed up or Shift + < (comma) to slow down without even touching your mouse.
On Mobile (YouTube App)
- Open the YouTube app and play the video.
- Tap the video to reveal controls.
- Tap the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner.
- Select “Playback speed”.
- Choose your desired speed (same options as desktop).
