[Free Pattern+Photo Tutorial] The Lovable Flower Pattern: Maybelle Flower Square

I actually had to Google to see if there is such a real flower called Maybelle flower! LOL. Couldn't find anything. However, I've learnt that the meaning of Maybelle is “lovable”. So here it is: this Maybelle Flower Square crochet pattern looks really lovely. I've seen beautiful blankets made of this pattern, like the ones in the pictures below.

Let me tell you the story about this Maybelle Square. A couple of months ago, or even longer, this idea of turning the Maybelle flower into a crochet square started to take form in my head. I had a few goes without luck. I am telling you, you do NOT want to see my terrible trials… I left the idea to sit for a while and one day one of my readers, a Dutch girl named Jane, sent me a picture of how she had turn the Maybelle flowers into squares in a blanket. I instantly contacted her to ask if she could give me some hints how she had made her squares. Within a day or two she replied with some instructions and she gave me the magic number – 4.

Watch Annette of My Rose Valley how she had turn the Maybelle flowers into squares and then in a blanket. She has a lovely photo tutorial on her blog.
Here are below some  absolutely adorable baby blankets made using the Maybelle square pattern.
