[Free Pattern] Moms Agree: This Classic Coverlet Crochet Pattern Is Very Pretty

The truth is: we all know that pretty baby blankets are more for the moms than for the babies. Agree? This very pretty Classic Coverlet pattern is ridiculously easy for the intermediate crocheters. The pattern is simple and repetitive. This simple but elegant little blanket can be easily modified to be smaller and the lacy and delicate pattern looks great with variegated or solid colors. Makes such a beautiful and loving baby gift! You can see a couple of examples in the pictures below.

This turned out smaller than the pattern. Still a great size though. It’s beautiful and very feminine for a baby girl. I think this easy pattern looks much more difficult. Very happy with the end result and I think the new parents will be too! Source: Linz13

    STITCH EXPLANATION:

    Shell (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in indicated st.
    BPDC (back post double crochet) Yo, insert hook from back to front then to back, going around the dc post, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip st in front of the BPDC.
    FPDC (front post double crochet) Yo, insert hook from front to back then to front, going around the dc post, draw up a loop, (yo and draw through 2 loops on hook) twice. Skip st behind the FPDC.

    AFGHAN
    With larger hook, ch 111.
    Row 1: Shell in 5th ch from hook, sk next 2 ch, *dc in next ch, sk next 2 ch, shell in next ch, sk next 2 ch; rep from * across to last 2 ch, sk next ch, dc in next ch—18 shells.
