One can never have enough crochet scrubbies, that's for sure! I came across these spiral scrubbies first on Pinterest. They are so cute and happy and the colors are so lovely. What a great way to bring some happiness to ones kitchen. So, with a bit of research I've found a great free pattern by Judith Prindle here and also a YouTube video tutorial . Go ahead and follow the link to the next page for the video tutorial.
Super Easy, Super Fun Spiral Crochet Scrubbies
Here are some of Judith's notes, talking about these scrubbies :
My crochet version is 20 stitches by 22 rows.
I used: size H crochet hook worsted weight acrylic yarn (doesn't take much)
Gauge: didn't check but my finished scrubbie is about 3 & 1/2 across if you squish it flat!
I don't try to weave the ends through the stitches themselves. I have been using some of my scrubbies since February and no ends have popped out yet. On my earliest scrubbies I left the yarn tails long enough to crochet a chain to hang them with. I find I don't use the hanger so I don't do that any more, but you could! Source: Spiral Scrubbie
There are so many great-looking finished spiral scrubbies examples done by using this pattern. I picked a couple that are not only great looking but also may give you a few more insights into the spiral scrubby making process.
The first one is from Renee of East of Eden. Not only has she created some truly stunning scrubbies but she has also done her research as well and has a bit of information on her blog that I find interesting and helpful for us all.
What caught my eye in particular was the fact that they were made out of acrylic. Cheapo acrylic yarn, the scratchier the better. I had always followed the yarn commandment that says, “Thou shalt only use cotton for handmade yarny kitchen thingees.” But much to my surprise acrylic does an extraordinary job of scrubbing dishes. I even scrubbed my lasagna pan without soaking it first with above tawashi and it took no time at all and nowhere near as much elbow grease as it usually would. Source: Do you tawashi?
I crocheted a loop at the top of each scrubbie long enough to hang off the tap to dry. These were each such a quick project, I was able to complete all four within one day! Source: dishcloth activist

Are these for washing yourself, dishes, pots and pans, or ?? How long does it take for them to dry? Do you wash them in a washing machine or dishwasher? How do you sterilize them??
