This little biscuit keychain is one of the happiest things you can make in an evening. It is a tiny square biscuit with a wavy edge, a little smiling face and dangly arms and legs, and it clips onto your keys, your bag or a zipper pull. It is also a great beginner project: it is mostly single crochet, worked in small rounds, and the whole video tutorial is only five minutes long.

What You’ll Need
Yarn: the video uses a fine baby yarn, size 2 (sport weight), in a warm biscuit brown, plus a little cream or white for the arms and legs. Any size 2 cotton or baby yarn works, and a keychain is a perfect way to use up leftovers.
Hook: the one recommended on your yarn label. A smaller hook gives tighter stitches, which helps a keychain keep its shape.
You’ll also need: a tapestry needle for joining the pieces and sewing on the limbs, a scrap of dark yarn for the eyes and smile (or two small beads), craft glue for the final assembly, and a keyring or clip.

Biscuit Keychain Tips
- Mark the first stitch. A stitch marker in the first single crochet makes the slip-stitch join easy to find, especially in dark brown yarn.
- Face first, then glue. Knot the face yarn at the back of the front piece before assembly, so the knots end up hidden inside.
- Use glue sparingly. A thin layer is enough. Too much soaks through and leaves shiny patches on the front.
- Make a batch. Once you have made one, the next takes a fraction of the time, and they make lovely little gifts and craft-fair pieces.
