This little crochet banana keychain is a quick, cheerful make: a curved yellow banana with a green tip at one end and a brown stem at the other, lightly stuffed so it holds its shape on your keys, your bag or a zipper pull. It is worked flat in rows of half double crochet, shaped on the last row and sewn up, and the whole video tutorial is only about five minutes long.

What You’ll Need
Yarn: the video uses a bright yellow yarn for the banana, plus a little green for the tip and a little brown for the stem. Any smooth yarn works, and a keychain is a perfect way to use up leftovers.
Hook: the one recommended on your yarn label. A smaller hook gives tighter stitches, which helps a keychain keep its shape.
You’ll also need: a little fiberfill for stuffing, a yarn needle for sewing it up with the yarn tail, scissors, and a keyring or clip to turn it into a keychain.

Banana Keychain Tips
- Leave a long tail. The video sews the banana up with the yarn tail, so leave plenty before you fasten off.
- Stuff as you sew. Adding the fiberfill halfway through sewing, as the video does, is much easier than pushing it in at the end.
- Keep it light. A little stuffing is enough for a keychain. Too much stretches the stitches.
- Make a bunch. Once you have made one, the next takes a fraction of the time, and they make fun little gifts and craft-fair pieces.
