Here is the pattern :
Materials:
- 8-ply yarn
- 4.5mm crochet hook
Final Measurements: One sturdy, textured cup sleeve.
Pattern Notes:
- The cup sleeve is worked from the base upwards.
- Rnd = Round, worked in a spiral.
- Row = Row, worked back and forth.
- ch = chain
- dc = double crochet
- sc = single crochet
- sl st = slip stitch
- FPdc = front post double crochet
- BLO = back loop only
- Rep = repeat
Instructions:
Cup Base:
- Make a magic ring.
- Rnd 1: Ch 2 (does not count as a stitch here and throughout). Work 14 dc into the ring. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (14 dc)
- Rnd 2: Ch 2. 2 dc in the first stitch (this is your first increase). 2 dc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (28 dc)
> Note: For a larger base, continue increasing each round by 14 stitches (i.e., Rnd 3 would have 42 dc, etc.) until the desired size is reached.
Cup Body:
- Rnd 1 (BLO Rnd): Ch 2. Working into the BLO of each stitch, 1 dc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first dc. (28 dc)
- Rnd 2 (Pattern Start): Ch 2. [1 FPdc around the next dc, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc]. Rep from [ ] 6 more times (7 times total). Join with a sl st to the first FPdc. (28 sts: 7 FPdc, 21 dc)
- Rnd 3: Ch 2. [1 FPdc around the FPdc from the previous round, 1 dc in each of the next 3 dc (work these into the spaces/gaps of the previous round)]. Rep from [ ] 6 more times. Join with a sl st to the first FPdc. (28 sts)
- Rnd 4+: Rep Rnd 3 continuously until the body reaches your desired height. Join the final round with a sl st.
Cup Rim:
- Rnd 1: Ch 1 (does not count as a stitch). Working into both loops again, 1 sc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (28 sc)
- Rnd 2: Ch 1. 1 sc in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (28 sc)
- Rnd 3 (Finishing Edge): Ch 1. Working into the BLO of each stitch, 1 sl st in each stitch around. Join with a sl st to the first sl st. Fasten off and weave in ends on the main body. (28 sl st)
Handle:
- Row 1: With a new piece of yarn, join to the cup sleeve and ch 2. Work 3 dc into the same/next stitches (based on placement). (3 dc)
- Row 2: Ch 2, turn. 1 dc in each dc across. (3 dc)
- Rows 3+: Rep Row 2 until the handle reaches your desired length. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.
Finishing:
- Position the handle on the opposite side of the cup sleeve. Using the long tail and a yarn needle, sew the final row of the handle firmly to 3 corresponding stitches on the cup sleeve. Weave in all ends.
