This is a crochet tutorial for the red-capped, white-stemmed mushroom.

Materials:

  • Willis Retro Short Pile Rabbit yarn (for the stem)

Mushroom Stem Instructions:

  1. Round 1: Make 6 single crochets (sc) in a magic ring. Tighten the ring and slip stitch (sl st) into the first sc.
  2. Round 2: 6 sc increases (2 sc in each stitch). Sl st into the first stitch, chain 1 (ch 1).
    • Note: Always sl st and ch 1 at the start of each round (won’t be repeated).
  3. Round 3: (1 sc, 1 increase) x 6 (6 sets total).
  4. Rounds 4–5: 18 sc per round.
  5. Round 6: (1 sc, 1 decrease) x 6.
    • Decrease method: Pick up front loops of 2 stitches and merge into 1.
  6. Rounds 7–10: 12 sc per round.
  7. Round 11: 12 sc in back loops only (half of stitch farther from you).
  8. Round 12: Normal 12 sc.
  9. Round 13: (1 sc, 1 decrease, 1 sc) x 3.
  10. Rounds 14–15: 9 sc per round.
  11. Round 16: After sl st and ch 1, ch 1 again. Then, 9 double crochet (dc) increases (2 dc per stitch).
  12. Round 17:
  • 1st stitch: 1 dc.
  • Next 17 stitches: dc increases (2 dc per stitch).
  • Sl st into first dc, leave long tail for sewing.

Mushroom Cap Instructions:

  1. Round 1: 6 sc in a magic ring. Tighten, sl st into first stitch.
  2. Rounds 2–9: 6 sc per round.
  3. Round 10: 5 sc, then 1 sc increase in the 6th stitch.
  4. Round 21 (sic): After sl st and ch 1, ch 1 again. Work 3 dc in each front loop (half closer to you). Complete the round.
    • Sl st into first dc, cut yarn.

Assembly:

  1. Add wire inside the cap for shaping.
  2. Sew cap to stem (align stitches perfectly).
    • No stuffing needed in the cap.

Finished! Your crocheted mushroom is complete.

Key Features:

  • No stuffing in the cap for stretch/twist flexibility.
  • Cute as a charm or decoration.
  • Uses back/front loop techniques for texture.
