Free Tunisian crochet patterns and tutorials. Tunisian sits between knitting and crochet: you keep all the loops on a long hook across a forward pass, then work them off again on a return pass.
The result is a dense, beautifully even fabric that looks woven. Tunisian knit stitch in particular is almost indistinguishable from stockinette, which makes it a favourite for blankets and washcloths.
Two things to know before you start. You need a long or cabled hook, and the fabric curls at first, which blocking largely fixes. Go up one or two hook sizes to reduce it. See also the stitch library and blanket patterns.
