Some say it looks like peacock feathers. The Shetland Shell Lace Scarf by Frances Goodman is a beautiful reversible lace scarf. This stitch makes gorgeous scarves but you can use our creativity for even more. I think it would make a lovely table runner or even a curtain if done in the right yarn. This knitting pattern seems to show off any yarn really well.

Shetlanders call this the Cockle Shell. There are different methods of knitting but all look nearly the same.

I love this Shetland motif. Since both sides are knitted there is no wrong side to the scarf. The Shell is dramatic, and it shows off single colored lace yarns best. Use size 3-5 US needles and a silk or mohair yarn to make your future favorite scarf. (Source)
