I'm crazy in love with this afghan! It is stunningly gorgeous and much more sophisticated than the usual granny afghan. The color combination really sets the pattern off. Grannies and Ripples by Stephanie Blaisure has the nostalgic, it almost looks like a quilt and truly creates the comforting feel of a vintage quilt. With this outstanding design, the pattern looks lovely in many settings. The free pattern is beautifully detailed on Stephanie's blog: Simply Crochet.

Or should I really call it a lapghan? It is only made for one person to sit and cuddle up underneath. Some day I will venture into making a bigger one, but seeings that this one took me a month to make…. I can't imagine a bigger one!

    1. Hi Yvonne, this is Stephanie’s project. Here is her answer from the blog:

I just used Red Heart yarn. The verigated is Aspen Print {http://www.redheart.com/yarn/super-saver-economy/aspen-print}.

I cannot remember the exact colors of the solids. I believe they are Warm Brown {http://www.redheart.com/yarn/super-saver-economy/warm-brown} and Frosty Green {http://www.redheart.com/yarn/super-saver-economy/frosty-green}.

  1. I know!! My first thought was, “I wonder how much yarn it takes and how much it would cost?” My second was, “You just saw how many unfinished projects you have…you can’t buy more yarn right now.” 🙁

  2. I love a lot of the Daily Crochet patterns, and Renata, thanks for passing them along. Recently, every time I click on the patterns or google the site, it won’t open–just keeps buffering. Anyone else having that problem?

  3. Hi Lynn, sorry for that. Unfortunately this has been a problem lately. The tech team is working to fix the issue. Have you tried in different browsers. Not sure if it makes a difference. We have lots of people coming to the site so I’m not sure why for some works and for some don’t. Please, keep trying till we get this problem fixed. Thansk!

  5. DailyCrochet.com I’m not able to get the patterns, just keep getting pop-ups that cause computer issues or else it just takes me out of the site!! Would love to be able to get them!!

  6. I made this a while back, it is beautiful. I know I had to make sure every single stitch was right and the count was correct otherwise it messed the entire thing up. I did a record number of tearing out on this project.

  7. My maternal grandmother loved to crochet–till arthritis turned her hands into knots and nubs. She never really had the time nor money to do the big jobs, but stayed with doilies and trim on things like aprons.

  8. I made one like this years ago and I ripped it out about four times before I figured out when I was doing wrong. It turned out beautiful and was a wedding present for a cousin. Then I made another one.

  9. I make copies of patterns and have them in plastic protectors in a note binder. I probably have enough to last me the rest of my life.. but I see another I like, too. I make mostly Baby afghans .Love this website..

  10. I am in the process of crocheting the ripple and granny square blanket but I don’t understand how to hook the grannies to the blanket please advise

  11. I would like to know why each round of the grannie squares is fastened off – if the same color of yarn is used for the entire square, why can’t you just continue crocheting the rounds? It would save a lot of time weaving in ends. Please advise. Thanks, Patti O.

    Hi Patti O,

At present i am making this lovely afghan and i am indeed not fastening off at the end of each round of granny. I slip stitch to where the next round has to start…a lot easier and less work than fastening off 😉

I have to say i am loving this pattern…although the attaching of the second strip of grannies is going slower than watching grass grow

It would be amazing to have colour schemes Of yarns so well planned ! Between learning how to create my own dye lot and Waiting for technology to pick up Annything like 100% custom clothes, I will still over-love the frumpy crochet bra I am about to make my still psi legSingle 38year-old singLe Self Post- Valentine’s crying day present.
