How to Crochet a Crunch Stitch

Here are some tips that may be helpful to know before stating on your new crunch stitch project.

Does this stitch make a pattern with one row or two?
This is a two-row pattern, because you alternate stitches between rows by working a tall stitch into a short one. Every two rows, the height comes out even.

How do I calculate the length of the beginning chain for a scarf?

If getting a particular finished length of the scarf is important, make a gauge swatch. Chain a multiple of your pattern repeat that is at least six inches (15 cm) long, and work until the piece is at least six inches tall. Measure the length of the piece from side to side. Then, do the math: the length you want the scarf to be should be divided by the width of the gauge switch and multiplied by the number in the original chain. If you don't need to be so exact, just chain until the chain itself is about as long as you want the scarf to be. (Source)

  1. I wish you would please print the directions to your crochet patterns instead of offering to download them. I am unable to retrieve them when they are downloaded but I would not have any problem printing the patterns if there were a print option. I have spent several hours copying the instructions if they are posted but there isn’t any way to print them out. Thanks in advance for your consideration.

    1. I think you will find the downloads are for ads – it seems to me you can look at the video and learn that way – no real written details.
