Let's face the truth! Choosing the right colors for a crochet project can be difficult! Different people have different approaches. You probably have your own, and you're welcome to share it with us in the comments area, but just in case you don't have yet a system that makes you completely happy, and the task of choosing the right colors for your next project, easy, I want to introduce you to Carmen's (of My Crochet Projects) Little Crochet Squares cute and practical idea. The easiest way to select colors for a project ever!

You'll also get the pattern for the cute little square. And here is what I think it could be a great bonus: once you have the pattern for these lovely little granny squares, you can use it to make some really lovely keychains. Just my thought!

  1. I have wrapped yarn around the embroidery floss bobbins as I have tons of yarn and the granny squares take up more room…. But, I love this idea for maybe doing up samples for a project where you have only a few colors to work with.

  2. Sounds like a good idea. has very simple diagram for the squares, that looks like good beginners practice for people not used to using charts! I just might give it a try, tho charts with no written instructions usually scare me.

  3. I usually save the band from the skein. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to make a small swatch from these colors. I wouldn’t have thought to put them on a keychain for future color selection. That would make it easier to take the keychain to the store.
