Nice and thick potholders are great to protect hands from getting burned and are some really great-looking potholders! The Folded Potholder pattern, courtesy of Michelle Gibbs is a fantastic little pattern, pretty much a favorite for everyone spending time in the kitchen.  These potholders last such a long time, wash well, and nothing works better when taking something hot out of the oven.

I use a G hook and a worsted weight cotton yarn. As long as you like the fabric you produce there is no wrong answer.

  1. if you can do a single crochet, you cn make these. They are the only potholders I’ve used for the past 20 or more years. They last forever and make great gifts and craft show sale items. have fun with them.

  2. I’ve made a few and now making more. They are so easy to do. Like them better then regular pot holders. Told my daughter I’m getting rid of the traditional ones n make all new ones. We were Leary at first but they really protect from hot pans. No burns

  3. These only make “an amazing gift” for someone if you’re ten years old or younger. If you’re an adult, make something that’s actually nice for crying out loud. Unless someone has specifically asked you to make potholders for a specific reason. Otherwise it’s a “oh, you were bored for an hour and now I’m stuck with this strangely colored item that doesn’t match my kitchen decor, great, thanks” gift.
